Sensei Joe Aversa
Sensei Joe began studying traditional Shotokan Karate in 1973. He studied under Sensei Toyotara Miyazaki from Japan who is a 3rd generation from the originator Funikoshi Gichen. He teaches as he was taught in a very traditional manor but with some modern methods. Sensei Joe achieved the rank of black belt in 1987 while studying with Sensei Miyazaki, Sensei Ki Leoung and Sensei Luis Rojas and is now the rank of Sandan (3rd degree).
In 1995, Sensei Joe opened United Martial Arts Academy where he taught thousands of classes and hundreds of students. In 2004, Sensei Joe moved to Pennsylvania and continued teaching private lessons. Now, at present, he is pleased to be teaching at Ensley's Martial Arts Dojo where he teaches three days a week and Tuesday, Wednesday two classes from 4:45-7:00 and Saturday classes from 9:45-12:00 noon. Classes have just started so join before classes fill.
